FAQs For Cybercall

What is Cybercall?
Cybercall allows you to make phone calls worldwide to other Cybercall users. All the calls are FREE. There is no per-minute charge

What equipment is required to use Cybercall?

You need:
- a Cybercall phone
- a broadband Internet connection along with an available port (RJ45) to plug it into your router.
- a router, if you need to share the broadband connection with a computer.

Can I call any number, such as cell phones, homes and business?
No. Cybercall can place calls to other Cybercall users only.

What about the AC power, as different countries use different standards?
Cybercall's power adapter is equipped with a universal switching power adaptor. You might need a socket adaptor if the shape of the plug is different form the US one.

Will Cybercall work from a business, from home or when I am traveling?
Yes, Cybercall will work from ANY PLACE where a broadband Internet connection and a RJ45 connector are available. Your phone number will follow you everywhere

In which countries does Cybercall work?
Cybercall works everywhere, without any limitation, provided that you have access to a Broadband Internet. You might just need a socket adapter.

I have tried some VoIP solutions. The quality is not always too good. What can I expect from Cybercall?

Cybercall produces high-quality voice, thanks to its proprietary protocol. You can expect a quality similar when not superior to traditional phones, and very likely to be higher than cell phones or traditional VoIP phones.

Preset phone numbers: how many numbers can be stored in memory?
10 sets of numbers could be saved both in the phone book and Cybercall server. (So even you move to a new location, or are traveling, these numbers will still be available.). The Cybercall number is not an IP address, so it always needs to connect to the server to get the current IP Address (dynamic or fixed).

Are there any hidden cost?

NO. All the communications are FREE

Do you offer Voice Mail services? If yes, how do I retrieve my messages?
Yes, we do. When you have a message, the Message light is flashing on your phone. Just press OK to listen to the message.

If I have technical questions, how do I access customer support?
You can email to support@acecom.com .sg or make calls to our service hot line: 65-68423481. Our hot-line is available during office hours: 9am to 6pm .

How much bandwidth do I require to use Cybercall?

Cybercall only requires 16Kbps each direction for a two-way communication with excellent sound quality. Typical broadband is at least 512K/64Kbps, more than adequate.

Does Cybercall work with a dialup Internet connection?
No. Cybercall requires a broadband connection.

I have behind a Firewall (Internet security). How do I set up Cybercall under such an environment?
You should not have any problem. If you are experiencing difficulties, use a specific non-firewall-guarding NAT server (NAT 2) for the Cybercall. Use local fixed IP for the Cybercall and disable the DHCP function at this specific NAT server. Now the Cybercall will connect to the Internet without firewall interferences. The protection of the other resources is kept intact.

Is Cybercall a traditional VoIP system?
No. Traditional VoIP systems are aimed at replacing traditional phones, Cybercall is not. It will co-exist with either traditional systems (PSTN) or VoIP ones. Cybercall offers unlimited free calls to people equipped with the same device. Moreover, Cybercall is based on Peer-to-peer architecture, a system that usually provides better voice quality than VoIP.

What is peer-to-peer?

A P2P system is one where all nodes in a network join together dynamically to participate in traffic routing-, processing- and bandwidth intensive tasks that would otherwise be handled by central servers.

Who invented peer-to-peer?
Peer-to-peer ("P2P") technology was first widely deployed and popularized by file-sharing applications such as Napster and KaZaA. In this context, P2P technology allows users to share, search for and download files.

Is the conversation really peer-to-peer?

The server (root's or ISP's) is only needed for the following events:
a. The initial handshake
b. In case a caller from ISP-1 wants to call a Cybercall from ISP-2. In this case, the ISP-1 server will access the root server, which in turn will provide the necessary information to ISP-1 for a peer-to-peer communication afterwards.

Do I need any software installed on my computer to use Cybercall?

Not at all. Cybercall is totally independent from a computer. You can use Cybercall even if you do not have a computer.

Can I use the Internet and Cybercall simultaneously?

Most definitely. You might need a router if the computer and the phone share the same Internet connection.
